Mothering Sunday falls on 15 March this year, and if you're looking for a gift that goes beyond flowers and chocolates, you've come to the right place. Here are our favourite natural fibre gifts that will make any mother feel genuinely, beautifully cared for.

Chocolates vanish. Flowers fade. But a gift in pure wool, cashmere, or sheepskin? That's something she'll reach for on cold mornings, curl into on winter evenings, and still cherish years from now.
At The Wool Company, we've been helping people find meaningful gifts made from the finest natural fibres for many years. Mothering Sunday is one of our favourite times of year because there's something especially fitting about giving a mum something soft, warm, and made to last.
Whether you're shopping for a new mum, a grandmother, or someone who simply deserves a little luxury, here's our guide to Mothering Sunday gifts that will truly stand out.
If there's one gift that says 'I thought about this properly', it's a cashmere throw. Whisper-soft, beautifully warm without being heavy, and available in a range of colours to suit any home, a cashmere throw is something a mother will use every single day.
Our cashmere throws are woven in the world's finest fibres and designed to last a lifetime with the right care. Drape one over an armchair, fold it at the end of the bed, or wrap up in it on the sofa on a cold March evening. However she uses it, she'll think of you every time.

A wool blanket is one of those gifts that hits every note: it's practical, luxurious, and long-lasting. British wool blankets in particular have a centuries-old heritage of craftsmanship that you simply can't replicate with synthetic fibres.
We carry a wide range of pure wool and merino blankets, from lightweight spring-weight throws to heavier double-weave blankets for cooler evenings. Many are made in Britain, Ireland, or by historic European mills, each with its own story to tell.
For a mother who appreciates quality and provenance, this is a gift that will last decades, not months.

A sheepskin rug is one of those gifts that transforms a space. Laid by the fire, placed beside the bed, or draped over a favourite armchair, genuine sheepskin brings warmth, texture, and a natural beauty that no synthetic rug can match.
Our sheepskin rugs are available in natural undyed tones, contemporary dyed shades, and several styles, including long wool, shorn, and Icelandic, so there's something to suit every home and every mum's taste.
It's also a gift that gets better with age. Properly cared for, a good sheepskin rug will last for years and only grow softer with time.

We have just extended our exclusive collection of hand-embroidered Kashmiri shawls, and for a truly exceptional Mothering Sunday gift, nothing else we carry comes close.
These are not mass-produced pashminas. Each one is a singular, documented piece of textile art — woven on a hand pit-loom in Srinagar from Grade A Ladakhi cashmere (some pieces are all cashmere; others are a cashmere-silk blend), then hand-embroidered by named master craftsmen in the Ganderbal district of Kashmir using traditional Sozni or Jamawar techniques. The embroidery alone can take seven to nine months to complete. Every shawl is a one-of-a-kind oeuvre.
Our collection spans several distinct styles, all of the highest quality. The Sozni Chakra shawls feature intricate circular vine motifs, the chakra being a symbol of motion, protection and hope, embroidered in silver and pink thread on deep cocoa or black cashmere. The Jamawar shawls use the Gulabdar (or Phooldar) style: Jamawar vines filled with embroidered roses, crafted by Mr Dar, a craftsman who has been embroidering shawls for 38 years. The Toosh Mayajaal shawls are among the rarest and most delicate pieces in the collection. There are also the Spring of Kashmir stoles: lighter, wearable pieces in striking colour combinations including black and orange, and silver.
One piece — the Sozni shawl 'Zozila' — is part of the Classic Revival Mother Series, created to emulate the traditional pashminas that have been gifted to mothers in Kashmiri culture across generations. Orange and gold thread depicts sunlight on mountaintops, set against deep black cashmere. It is, quite literally, a shawl made to be given to a mother.
Every shawl comes supplied with a copy of 'The Kashmir Shawl' — a book documenting the landscapes and lives behind its creation — along with full provenance: often including names of the herders who supplied the cashmere fibre, the village it came from, and the craftsman who embroidered it. This is slow fashion in its truest sense. These are pieces to own for a lifetime and pass down.
Each shawl is a unique piece — once it's gone, it's gone. We only have a very limited selection of special shawls in this collection.

If the hand-embroidered pieces are above budget, our broader pashmina and shawl range still offers something genuinely beautiful — from around £30 up to £200. Pure cashmere pashminas, merino-silk blends, and wool shawls: lightweight enough to fold into a handbag, warm enough to ward off a March chill, and elegant enough to wear for years. A proper shawl never goes out of style.

Motherhood and sleep deprivation often go hand in hand — so what better gift than something that genuinely improves the quality of her rest? A wool pillow or mattress topper is naturally temperature-regulating, breathable, and moisture-wicking. The Daily Mail even championed our wool pillows as a standout sleep product — so she'll be in good company.
Unlike synthetic alternatives that trap heat in summer and feel clammy in winter, wool regulates temperature naturally throughout the night. A mattress topper adds an extra layer of cloud-like comfort to any bed — the kind of upgrade most people would never buy for themselves, which makes it a particularly thoughtful gift.

Not every gift needs to be a grand gesture — and sometimes the most thoughtful ones aren't. Our Mulberry Silk sleep and hair care collection is currently on sale, with prices reduced by 40–45%, bringing individual pieces to between £8 and £18. At that price, a beautifully presented silk gift set starts to look like an extraordinary bargain.
The gift sets pair a 100% Grade 6A Mulberry silk scrunchie with a matching silk eye mask, presented in a silk storage case — available in light pink and latte. The scrunchie helps prevent breakage and frizz overnight; the eye mask retains moisture in the delicate skin around the eyes and blocks light for a deeper sleep. Both are made from Oeko-Tex certified silk, free from harmful chemicals, and suitable for sensitive skin. The individual scrunchies and eye masks are also available separately if you'd like to build your own combination.
It's the kind of gift that arrives looking far more expensive than it is — and pairs beautifully alongside any of the larger items in this guide if you want to add a little something extra.
