The Duchess merino wool blanket is the core of our range, woven by the celebrated John Atkinson brand, a world-renowned fine British wool weaver.
These merino blankets are woven without compromise on quality of production, fibre or sustainability. Properly cared for, they will last for generations and become a much cherished part of the household. Buy once and buy well.
Made in Yorkshire in one of the last remaining vertical mills in the UK, operating for 235 years, these blankets literally have traditional quality woven into them.
Merino wool blankets are popular for being among the softest, long-lasting natural fibre blankets and for being resilient, warm, soft, and breathable. They naturally shed dirt and repel odours, so they are easy to care for and will provide long, rewarding service.
This is a lovely medium-weight soft wool blanket at 400 GSM, affording year-round comfort. It is ideal for cooler months but light enough to layer, so you can easily achieve your ideal sleeping temperature.
These blankets are dyed with harmless, AZO-free dyes, making them more sustainable and better for the environment and the user. Please note the White blanket is an unbleached, undyed creamy natural white (as with all high-quality wool blankets).

Merino Blanket Care
The manufacturer advises professional cleaning only. Many of our customers, however, have hand-washed or machine-washed these merino blankets for years. They advise using a cool wool setting at 30℃ with wool-approved detergent, no spin, and air drying only. Never tumble dry.
There will always be some shrinkage after careful washing (up to 6% initially), so our merino blankets are generously sized to allow for this. Proper care will see your blanket retain its size and softness for many years.
Please note: Never use standard detergents on wool, even “gentle” or “non-bio” versions. Always choose a wool-approved detergent or use a few pure soap flakes.
Origin & Sustainability
Made in England by John Atkinson in Bradford—Yorkshire’s historic wool capital. These merino blankets are woven in one of the last remaining traditional wool mills in the country.
The wool is sourced from New Zealand sheep and is independently certified as non-mulesed merino wool.
Wool is nature’s technical fibre, being sustainable, breathable, and 100% biodegradable and free of microplastics.
Sustainable
Wool is planet-friendly from sheep to sleep, being natural, renewable, biodegradable and durable.
Comfort
Having an integrated spring-like fibre crimp means these merino blankets retain their loft and and support for years.
Micro-climate Control
By naturally absorbing and releasing moisture, merino wool blankets regulate the environment, creating a more comfortable microclimate for your body, giving deeper, more restful sleep year-round.
Air quality
By absorbing and neutralising volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other pollutants, merino blankets improve air quality.
Anti-microbial Odour control
The microscopic scaly surface of wool fibres makes wool resistant to odour-causing bacteria, so needing much less laundering than other textiles.
Natural Flame Resistance
Unlike synthetic fibres that rely on "forever chemicals" as treatments to achieve fire safety, wool’s natural flame resistance means it needs no chemical fire-retardants , enhancing safety by reducing toxic emissions and fire risks.
Anti-static And Dirt-repellent
Wool’s anti-static properties mean it does not readily accumulate static charge, so it attracts less dust and dirt, keeping itself and indoor environments cleaner. Wool’s ability to dissipate static charge gently improves comfort helping protect electronic devices, especially in indoor climates where static buildup is common.
Asthma-friendly
Wool naturally resists dust mites and regulates moisture, making it ideal for asthma sufferers and healthier indoor air.
