A stunning cashmere pashmina embroidered using traditional Sozni-Dordar embroidery, inspired by one of the wonders of the world, The Tajmahal. The base fabric is Tafta Pashmina, a tightly woven material designed for strength and warmth and traditionally worn in Kashmir. The design is a reflection of the various styles of art which fill the Tajmahal, artwork from the Mugal era, including designs from Hindu, Turkish and Persian Art.
The cashmere for this artwork was sourced in June 2020 from Rango Village in Kashmir. The Dehairing and carding would traditionally have been done in Kashmir, but due to the pandemic restrictions, the process needed to be done in the Kullu district of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.
The weft thread was spun in Kashmir where spinning is a traditional culture using handlooms, the warp thread for this shawl was spun in Kullu as the pandemic restrictions made the movement of yarns to weavers very difficult, creating a unique combination of cultures Embroidered in the Ghanderbal District of Kashmir which is a mecca for fine needlework. The thread was dyed in Hawal Srinagar.
The journey of this shawl took two years and seven months from sourcing the cashmere to the finished product in January 2023.

Composition: 100% Cashmere, sourced in Ladakh and selected from the finest Grade 'A' fibres.
