Mohair Ribbed Trekking Sock
Calf-length mohair trekking sock designed for wearing with shorter boots or shoes. The terry looped sole gives you comfort while the reinforced heel gives the sock strength where it is needed. These socks are created in England, using mohair from young goats so they are soft and comfortable. Ideal for use in outdoor pursuits from trekking or climbing to gardening and dog walking.
Mohair is a luxury 'noble' fibre. It is also known as the 'diamond fibre' for its amazing durability and resilience and is also highly insulating as it is a hollow fibre and warms almost instantly when placed next to the skin. It also has extraordinary wicking properties and can absorb up to 30% of moisture without feeling wet.
Most importantly, as mohair is a smooth fibre when the socks are tight in a boot there is less chafing and therefore more blister resistance. It is extremely hard-wearing and does not hold on to odours. You can wear these socks with confidence for several days without offending anyone when you take your boots off at the end of the day. It is the perfect fibre for socks.
In May 2022 we found a suitably fit volunteer to engage in the ''South West Coast Path Ultra Marathon'' to give these trekking socks a run for their money. Read all about it here.
